The derivative of a square wave function is not defined at the jump discontinuities in the function. However if the square wave is thought of as a generalized function, its derivative at the discontinuous points can be described in terms of the delta function.
Plot a square wave function of period 1 with 0<=t<2 and use the central difference method to display the approximate derivative. Examine the effect of decreasing the sampling interval from 0.01 to 0.005 and then 0.001 and relate this to the definition of the delta function.
